Mechanical Testing

Tensile testing from SGS MSi

We offer you state-of-the-art mechanical testing laboratories and a proven track record for providing assessment of tensile strength on metallurgical materials.

Testing tensile strength is a destructive method where the sample is subjected to a controlled tension until failure occurs.

Testing tensile is important since it determines the safety and durability of your material by providing information on the strength and ductility. A tensile test yields a tensile load, which is then calculated to an ultimate tensile strength. Ultimate Tensile Strength is the maximum tensile stress a material can sustain without fracture.

Why choose SGS MSi?

Tensile testing is our specialty so we can accommodate high sample volumes and provide you with accurate and on-time test results.

Our 10,000 sq. ft. machine shop runs on two shifts, sustaining the capacity to accommodate the volume of testing required for the high volumes we process through our lab. Material hardness levels up to 50 HRC can be sectioned on our band saws to verify the heat treat conditions and processes. Abrasive saws permit sectioning of smaller components that have higher surface hardness levels requiring mechanical testing.
