Hardness Testing
Macro Vickers hardness testing is performed at our mechanical testing lab using 1, 5 and 10 kilograms loads
Microscope equipment allows for a precise indentation placement. This testing is utilized to determine bulk material hardness and hardened surface hardness. It is the most frequently used hardness scale for the weld hardness surveys and commonly required by the European and petroleum industry specifications. Thanks to low load and microscope used to read the indentations the tests can be performed on thin or small parts and extremely hard or soft materials. Vickers testing is very accurate, but requires special sample preparation and lab-like environment.
Macro Testing Laboratory
SGS MSi performs all Macro Vickers testing to accredited standards such as ASTM E384 and ASTM E92.
Industries utilizing Macro Vickers hardness testing are:
- Welding
- Petroleum
- Automotive
